the Mi Propio Camino Study
Job Description
The Project Director will lead a team of 16 bilingual research staff and students to conduct the NIH-funded (through January 2024) Mi Propio Camino study. Primary responsibilities include:
Developing repeatable processes to ensure progress toward project milestones
Providing ongoing training and oversight to ensure frontline study team members are successful
Weekly tasking and scheduling research coordinators and student assistants in recruitment, intervention session preparation, follow-up calls, and follow-up visits
Facilitating research activities with adult Spanish and English speaking patient participants in clinic and community settings
Synthesizing information about project activities and outcomes for written and spoken external communication
Operational management including administrative processes for the project and compliance and reporting for IRB, NIH and UC Irvine
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and two years of project management or policy analysis experience is required.
Master’s or Doctoral degree preferred.
Expected salary $68-85k per year, commensurate with experience.
the Mi Propio Camino study
The MPC study is a four-year NIH funded research study of integrative educational approaches to support Latinx adults with hypertension. In this randomized trial, we examine a theory driven group education approach that was born from the suggestions of Spanish-speaking patients who felt their priorities were not adequately represented in treatment recommendations.

HELIOS is a unique mentored health equity research program preparing undergraduate and graduate students for success as leaders in medicine, research and the health professions. HELIOS members form an important part of the Mi Propio Camino team, and the Project Director will have an important role providing mentorship and developing collaborative opportunities for the program.
